New Blue Shipping Containers from CS Shipping Containers

CS Shipping Containers in the UK have a corporate blog which has some interesting posts on ISO shipping container conversions, buying your own container and container strength.  Worth a look if you are planning your own shipping container structure or if you are looking to buy a container in the UK.

This is a great blog detailing the design and construction process of an ISO shipping container house made by The Workshop 308. Definitely worth a read. Another article about the same project here.

Tsubara Tsubara Shipping Container Soup Curry Restaurant

Niseko on Japan's Northern island of Hokkaido is famous as a snowboard heaven for its fabulous dry powder snow but it is also home to the Tsubara Tsubara Soup curry restaurant which is made from a number of shipping containers.  The main restaurant seating area is based in a single 40' container and I was surprised at how spacious it felt inside.  The fabulous views of Mount Youtei also help it feel very open.  Also the Hokkaido style soup curry is delicious!40' Shipping Container Restaurant Interior

I'm hoping to find out a little more about this place and what went into the construction soon so check back for more information and pictures. There website has a few pictures of the construction process here.

ISBU2U Have a big announcement about affordable ISBU based housing on April 15th.  It will be interesting to see what they have up their sleeves.  Hope the red on grey text on their site isn't indicative of their designs though - it plays hell on my eyes!.

e.t.a. Much nicer design on the website now.  Nice work guys!

e.t.a Looks like the grand launch has been delayed until 25th April now.

I really love this wilderness cabin design from Hybrid Seattle using their Cargotecture brand. I like how rustic the interior looks compared to the brutally industrial exterior of the shipping containers.

There is a great article about the cabin and the designers here.

More pictures and a floor plan after the break.
